Join the Market team!

Running the Market is fun — we’d love to have you join us! If you’re interested in these positions, fill out the form at the bottom of the page.

Events Coordinator

We’re looking for someone to be our new Events Coordinator. You’ll schedule musicians and other performers — they help make the Market a great community event.

This is a volunteer position. It takes two hours a week, more or less.

We have one or two performers at the Market every week during the season (June – October). You will be responsible for scheduling them, including reminders and thank-you messages.

Most events have been music related, but we’ve also had magic, restaurant tastings, dance, and yoga demonstrations, among other things. We have a list of performers who played last season, some of whom have already contacted us about performing again this year.

We use Google Drive to share information. You’ll update our scheduling files to keep performer schedules current. This information is used in our email newsletter and social media posts. The Events Coordinator is one reviewer for the weekly email newsletter, to be sure events information is accurate.

And you don’t have to be a performer! We’re looking for an organized person who wants to help make the Market the fun, festive place it is every Thursday. And we hope you can join monthly committee meetings. Apply for this position now.

Food Assistance Manager

The Food Assistance Manager is a paid position. The salary per market day is $125. We’d like to hire someone who can commit to the full season (Thursdays, June — October), but with advance notice, we can accommodate absences.

An important part of our mission is helping shoppers stretch their food budgets through our food assistance program. We’re proud that we helped shoppers get an extra $59,000 in fresh, local food in the 2023 season!

You can help us continue this great program.

We will offer training in all of the tasks involved. And we hope you can join monthly committee meetings.

You should be comfortable talking with shoppers, explaining the programs, and using some software tools. You’ll work on our iPad to process SNAP transactions at the Market, and do a little work in Google spreadsheets before and after the Market.

The job also includes setup of equipment, managing the inventory of tokens and receipts, training vendors, and operation of EBT equipment. Additionally, this role is responsible for understanding SNAP benefits and rules, explaining food assistance programs to shoppers, and handling vendor receipts for reimbursement for all food assistance matching.

Market days are always fun, and we hope you can join us. Apply for this position now.

Social media volunteer

We’re looking for someone to help us with social media to let shoppers know about vendors, events, community groups, and all of the great products at the Market. This is a volunteer position.

Our social media work currently focus on Instagram, Facebook. We post a little on Twitter, and have not really started using TikTok. The more platforms you know, the better!

Experience with social media platforms, knowledge of what makes posts fun and engaging, the ability to write short posts, and a good sense of design are all good qualifications. You don’t need to be at the Market all day, but you should be there often to know what to write about. When you apply, let us know how to find you on social media. Apply for this position now.
