Market Setup/Breakdown Assistant

We can’t run the Market without you — literally! Help us set up shop and shut things down each Market day as our new Market Setup/Breakdown Assistant.

In this vital volunteer role, you’ll help the Market Manager set up the Market each Thursday and then lead the breakdown at closing time. Setup should take roughly an hour, with a start time between 11 and noon; breakdown takes about 30 minutes.

This position will get you moving — moving tents, tables, signs, chairs, and other items around the Market site. Everything is stored in our on-site shed, and we have a cart to make it easier. You should be comfortable lifting about 20 pounds and working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Setting up, running the Market, breaking down. Don’t worry, we don’t always work this quickly!

You should be available for all or most of the season, and you’ll receive training and support from our wonderful Market Manager. On the few days when the Manager can’t attend, you’ll be in charge of setup (with assistance).

Social Media Assistant

If social media is your strength and the Belmont Farmers’ Market is your fave, we’re ready for you to be our newest volunteer!

We’re looking for a Social Media Assistant to make community members even more excited about the Belmont Farmers’ Market, one post, story, or reel at a time.

Help spread the word about our awesome vendors and products, showcase our special and weekly events, and highlight our huge slate of kids programming. In this new volunteer position you’ll use our Instagram and Facebook accounts to connect with our over 5,000 followers.

We need someone with social media experience who is able to write fun and engaging posts to get people to the Market. A solid sense of design also is helpful, along with the ability to monitor social media analytics (but don’t worry, we can train you!).

You won’t need to be at the Market every Thursday all season, but you should be present often enough to catch the vibe — plus, you’ll want to be there!

The Social Media Assistant should be available for all or most of the season, and you’ll receive training from our wonderful Market Manager.

Food Assistance Associate

Food insecurity is everywhere, but the Belmont Farmers’ Market is here to help. Our strong and growing food assistance program needs a new volunteer to help run our newest campaign, HIP+, on Market days.

Last year’s reduction in a state-funded program inspired us to create HIP+ to help shoppers buy more healthy local produce. We give shoppers $20 each month to purchase any produce at the Market.

Get ready to be a part of something big — no other market has a program like HIP+!

Join our team – help us help others in the community

In 2025, HIP+ attracted new shoppers and supported our farms and other vendors throughout the season. We named HIP+ after state’s Healthy Incentives Program (HIP), which provides free produce to recipients of SNAP benefits.

We’re proud of our food assistance program. Altogether, we helped shoppers stretch their food budgets by over $73,000 in the 2025 season. HIP+ accounted for $23,700 of that total.

This volunteer position involves greeting shoppers at the Manager’s Tent and explaining the HIP+ program; enrolling and checking in participants; distributing tokens for buying produce; collecting tokens from vendors at the end of the day; and keeping records to track the program’s success.

The right candidate should have a sharp attention to detail, patience for a variety of circumstances, smooth customer service skills, and an outgoing, welcoming personality. Fluency in another language (e.g., Russian or Chinese) is helpful, but not required.

You should be available for all or most of the season, and you’ll receive training and support from our excellent Food Assistance Manager. Most of your Market day will be spent at the Manager’s Tent, but there will be breaks and time for you to shop. Keep in mind that the Market is outdoors and open in all weather (except severe storms).

Volunteers Coordinator

Volunteers run the Belmont Farmers’ Market, and we’re looking for a volunteer to run our volunteers!

As the Volunteers Coordinator, you’ll be scheduling, training, finding subs, and simply serving as our VIV — Very Important Volunteer. From teens to seniors, you’ll help our helpers make every Thursday great.

Setting up our volunteer schedule is essential in this role, and most of that work comes at the beginning of the season. The right person should be comfortable with Google Drive features, email, text messaging, and the occasional old-fashioned phone call.

After that, it’s weekly upkeep. You don’t have to be at the Market every day, but the more you know and the more available you are, the better you can tell volunteers what to expect. Plus, it’s a great way to spend a Thursday afternoon. If all of the above sounds like you, then , we want you on our team!
