We invite kids ages 8-12 to submit ideas and become official vendors at the Market. We're not just kidding around — they will develop business ideas, create their products, and sell them at the Market

Mini Market Makers Business Consultant This year, we are especially thrilled to welcome Steve Savarese of Senné Real Estate as our Mini Market Makers Business Consultant! Steve will work one-on-one with our young entrepreneurs, helping them develop their business plans, answer questions, and offer personalized advice to prepare for market day. Steve also sponsors POP Club, another of our kids programs.
Last season’s Mini Market Makers
We had some great young entrepreneurs last season, working on their own or in teams. Each had a business name, a goal or reason for their project, and ideas about where the money should go.
Helping Hands Stands: Jewelry. Noticing that Belmont schools often request donations for supplies, we were inspired to raise money for charity. Funds went to: Boston Children's Hospital
Gummy Drops: Slime. A soothing sensory fidget designed to help kids stay focused, reduce anxiety, and practice self-regulation. Perfect for neurodivergent children. Funds went to: Carroll School & Chenery School
Queerest of Them All: A variety of pride-themed items To promote pride, especially in light of ongoing attacks on trans rights and the broader queer community. Funds went to: Queer-supporting organizations.
Details about the program
The goal of Mini Market Makers (MMM) is to help children learn what it’s like to be in business. They’ll develop an idea, decide what to charge, think about what to do with the money they earn, and (optionally) develop a business plan with our MMM committee.
To apply, fill out the form below with your child. It is a long form, but the program is a serious one and we want to be sure that all of our selected entrepreneurs can be successful.
Space is limited, so we may not be able to accept all applicants.

Applications are available on August 5, 2026.
Applications are due by August [19]
We will email you by August [date] to tell you if your child can participate in the program.
If your child chooses to create a business plan, we will arrange a meeting around [date] [in person? on Zoom?] with our MMM committee to refine the ideas in the plan. While this is optional, it will help the child be more successful.
Mini Market Makers Day is October 1, from 3:30-5:30 at the Belmont Farmers’ Market. The Market is held in the Belmont Center parking lot.
Rules:
A parent or guardian must be at the Market for the entire duration of the event (3:30-5:30 pm on Oct. 1).
